Taylor’s Story

This story surrounds Taylor Dumpson, who, in 2017, became the first African American woman elected as student government president at American University in Washington, DC. Soon after, Dumpson received a storm of racist and threatening messages via Facebook and Twitter. The incident gained national attention once she and her legal team fought back against her attackers and won. Her story was featured in the New York Times, Washington Post and other major news outlets. Taylor Dumpson’s example of fortitude and courage is truly inspirational and certainly worth sharing.
